Teb Batey is a lifelong resident of Rutherford County, and the son of Tom and Anne Francis Batey. Batey graduated from Middle Tennessee Christian School in 1984, and continued his education at David Lipscomb University in Nashville receiving a Bachelor of Science in Finance/ Economics in 1988. Batey received a Masters of Business Administration from MTSU in 1991. Batey grew up working at Batey’s, the family owned office supply, photo, and awards business. He had completed 17 years of full time employment when the business was sold in 2005 to My Office Products. Batey was elected as Rutherford County Trustee in 2006.
Batey currently serves as minister for the Milton Church of Christ, a position he has held since 1990. Batey and his family operate a beef cattle operation. He was named Beef Producer of the Year in 1998 by the Tennessee Cattleman’s Association.
Batey is married to Kari Mathis Batey of the Lascassas community. Kari is the daughter of Dr. Kathy Mathis and the late Dr. Bill Mathis both educators at MTSU. Teb and Kari have four children, Paul, Houston, Kate, and Taylor. They live on the family farm in the Milton Community.

Jerry Smith
Jerry was born in Murfreesboro in 1946 and graduated from Central High in 1964. Jerry attended Kingwood church of Christ till 1967 before joining the Air Force and has been attending Milton since 1974. He served in Air Force from 1967- 1971. After military service Jerry attended and graduated from MTSU in 1981. Jerry is married Mary Jean Smith and they have two children, Bart (1970) and Dan (1974). Mary Jean is originally from Lebanon and was librarian at Southside Elementary till her retirement in 2011. Jerry started helping his dad with electrical work and began his own home building business in 1976. He has been involved with all aspects of construction. Jerry retired in 2008.
Stan Jennings
Stan Jennings is the son of Howard & Chris Jennings of Stewart, MS. He was raised in West Helena, AR and has been a member of the Lord’s Church for nearly 40 years. Stan and his wife Cheryl were married in August 1986 and blessed with two children, Melissa and Joshua. Melissa is a graduate of Harding University with a BA degree in early Childhood Education. In April 2012, Melissa was married to Brett VanZant, who is also a graduate of Harding University with a degree in Youth and Family ministry. Joshua attends Middle TN State University, where he is working on a BA degree in English with a concentration in writing.
In July 1988, Stan received an Associate of Science degree in Electronic Engineering from State Technical Institute in Memphis, TN. Over the past 25+ years, he has worked within the Healthcare transcription/speech industry that has required three separate job re-locations, which have allowed his family to serve with four separate congregations. Stan and Cheryl placed membership with the Milton congregation in September 2009 and reside in Lascassas, TN.
Stan had the privilege to serve as a deacon while attending two previous congregations. His areas of service included working within children, teen, and young adult ministries. His desire to serve as a Shepherd has been a central part of his life since watching the service of his father. Stan believes God has called all Christians to grow in faith, love, and unity by sharing their God given talents.
Rob Mathis
Rob is married to the former Candi Stacey and they have three children; Carl, Sam and Sarah. Rob and Candi were married in 1994 and have lived on Ruel McKnight Rd. since the fall of 1994. Rob has been attending Milton since his parents moved to the area in the mid 1970’s. Rob is the son of the late Bill Mathis and Kathy Mathis of Oregon Rd. in Lascassas.
Rob and Candi are co-owners of Lascassas Drugs and Watertown Drugs independent pharmacies where Candi works as a pharmacist. Rob is a member of the faculty at Middle Tennessee Christian School and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University. Prior to joining the MTCS faculty in 2003, he worked as an instrumentation engineer at AEDC from 1996 to 2002 and as IT director of Stones River Hospital from 2002 until 2003. Rob enjoys coaching trap for MTCS as well as photography.
Ralph McKee
Ralph is married to Opal McKee and they have one daughter Rebecca (Ryan) Key and one grand daughter Evelyn Francis Key. Ralph has greed to serve primarily in the area of Benevolence. He will be focusing on local benevolence and community service projects including existing programs like Meals on Wheels. Also Ralph will help provide benevolence and service opportunities to all of our members and age groups.
Todd Hickey
Todd is married to Kim Hickey and they have three children, Tyler, Kayla (Jake) McNeese, and Trey. Todd has agreed to serve primarily in the area of Building and Grounds. Todd will help coordinate all area of our facilities including maintenance and repair, outside contractors, cleaning, aesthetics, mowing and landscaping, and our sign.
Dan Smith
Dan is married to Elizabeth Smith and they have two children; Clay and Isaac. Dan is the son of Jerry and Mary Jean Smith. Dan will be primarily serving in the area of Youth and Family. He will be working directly with Mike McCubbin to help organize the youth activities outside of our normal Sunday school and class times. He will also help plan and coordinate the family retreat, help with VBS, and work to provide spiritual and physical resources the families here at Milton with school-aged children.
Josh Young
Josh is married to Brooke Young and they have two daughters Caroline and Emma Jane. Josh has agreed to serve primarily in the area of Hospitality. Josh will have the important role of making connections with our visitors and coordinating greeters for our services. He will also help with our card and letter ministry and will help coordinate the use of our facilities by guests.
Nathan Mathis
Nathan is married to Andrea Mathis and they have three sons, Carson, Joseph and Bill. Nathan is the son of Kathy Mathis and the late Bill Mathis. Nathan has agreed to serve as our Budget Coordinator. Nathan will help facilitate the annual budgeting and spending plan process as well as helping our treasurer with budget related accounting tasks. He will also work with the other deacons to approve purchases and spending within the budget categories so that we can be the best stewards possible of our financial resources.
